Jolin Lee is a non-binary narrative filmmaker of Singaporean Chinese heritage, based in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Jolin explores themes of family, community, and sociology through narrative analogies, camouflaging universal truths at the heart of each piece in equal parts wit, wonder, and warmth.
Jolin’s debut short Ur Dead to Me, an elliptical narrative fiction, screened at numerous festival audiences across the globe in 2018 including the Academy Award qualifying Palm Springs Shortfest, won People's Choice in Indieflicks 2018, and the Audience Award in Sunday Shorts 2018.
Their third short film Chrysanthemum was made with the support of the New Zealand Film Commission and funded through the NZFC's Catalyst program, premiering in Palm Springs Shortfest 2025.
Jolin is an alumni of the DEGANZ Emerging Women Filmmakers Incubator in 2022, the PASC Episode One Pilot Development program in 2023, and the MIFF Accelerator Lab in 2025.
Jolin is also a creative at Auckland advertising agency Motion Sickness.
